Ricky Cool & the In Crowd
Having been in the music business for over 40 years, played with the likes of Billy Connolly, shared a stage with George Harrison and played in the same band as Robert Plant, Ricky Cool along with his 6 piece band The In-Crowd, bring their own inimitable music to Burnley Mechanics.
Midlands based Ricky Cool has fronted bands including The Icebergs, The Rialtos and The Hoola Boola Boys. His latest incarnation, Ricky Cool and the In Crowd, will be playing Burnley Mechanics Front Room, on Saturday, September 24th. Having built up a large following, in the Midlands, and following a successful appearances at Blues On The Farm, Chichester and the Great British Rhythm and Blues Blues Festival, Colne, Lancs, Ricky is looking to spread his musical message to new areas and venues.
The band plays a variety of musical styles under the banner of rhythm and blues. Early Jamaican grooves are mixed in with the American to recreate the musical styles that were so much a part of early Mod culture. The Mechanics gig is one of the bands ‘Flamingo Nights Tour’ dates. The Flamingo Club in Soho having been at the centre of Mod culture in the early 1960’s. Listen out for their take on ‘Yeh Yeh’ and ‘Keep On Running,’ songs made famous by Georgie Fame and The Spencer Davis Group respectively, to get a flavour of the band’s music.
Ricky continued, “The music we play is timeless and our show is enjoyed by young and old alike. The enjoyment we have on stage rubs off on our audience and a great time is had by one and all. We’re looking forward to playing Burnley Mechanics. It’s a venue with a great reputation and we’re excited about bringing our music to a new audience.”
